Fate or Life?

Do you believe in fate?

Do you believe we control our lives or are our lives all planned out from the day we were born?  Do you sit around waiting for life to happen or do you take charge and make it happen.  I'm not sure what I believe.  As a romance writer I must believe in fate somewhat or I wouldn't be able to write the tale of a happy ending.

It seems as if life sometimes just happens.  When it does, it is best to look at it as a good thing or it will tear you down.  One time my son asked me how I was able to go on when bad things keep happening to us.  I told him I really didn't know but everything always worked out.  It may not be the way you planned or vision it, but it always does.

Our lives can always be worse than what they are and we think we can't go on.  Sometimes I want to curl up and let life take me down, but for some reason I never do.  I put one foot in front of the other and because somewhere in the world, there is always someone else having it worse.  I may not do it gracefully but I do it.

How do you get by and keep going?  Share with us and maybe we all can find the will to go on when it appears it's not going to get any better.

  1. I've always been a big believer in fate. Except hard work factors in. I believe I was fated to be a writer, given the drive and determination to succeed, but it happens with a big dose of hard work. I suppose I could be fated to write and then not do anything with it... So fate combines with a choice?

    1. I agree. One can't wait for life to happen but sometimes has to take the wheel as they say. Thanks for stopping by and giving your take on it.

  2. First and foremost I believe in free will and choice. But there's a little fate involved, too. :)

I believe I'm here to learn certain lessons - to be more giving, open, honest, to put someone else's well being before mine. I must use free will to make the right decisions.

But there's an element of fate as well - I was fated to go into the Army, I was fated to meet my husband, I was fated to have my son Joe. Each of these events have given me opportunites to learn and use my free will to make open, honest, and hard decisions.

So, in a nutshell, I do believe in fate, but I do believe no one's fate is "for sure." Fate and Free Choice go hand in hand.

  3. I think I'm just aimlessly wondering some days! LOL Perhaps there are things we need to accomplish in this life, but it is up to us to figure out how to get there. Very thought provoking post.

    1. There are days I wonder too. I've learned to accept that some things are meant to be even if we envisioned it much bigger.
